Immerse yourself in Utah Opera’s witty performance of Candide, a comical operetta by Leonard Bernstein. Based on Voltaire’s satirical novel, Candide follows an innocent young man’s journey through a life of colorful characters and unexpected life lessons. Between its release in 1953 to its revival in 1989, Bernstein worked and reworked the show, stating “There’s more of me in that piece than anything else I’ve ever done.” The Overture was an immediate a hit with becoming one of the most popular concert curtain raisers with its breakneck speeds pumping the audience and players alike up. Unparalleled with its cleverness and clarity, join us for what NPR calls “Bernstein at his best.”
Signature Performance: No discounts available.
Individuals ages five and older are welcome at this performance. Parents should ensure their children are able to sit quietly through the performance without disturbing others around them. No babes in arms will be admitted.
