Utah Symphony welcomes Ukrainian-born Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman, an extraordinary artist whose performances have been heard around the world. Gluzman will play Brahms’ Violin Concerto on the legendary 1690 ‘ex-Leopold Auer’ Stradivari on extended loan to him through the generosity of the Stradivari Society of Chicago. Brahms’s only violin concerto at the time, pushed the envelope of musical and violin technique and was not initially welcomed. Come hear why it soon became a high point of violin repertoire as the piece spans the scope of flaming ferocity and peaceful introspection.
Individuals ages five and older are welcome at this performance. Parents should ensure their children are able to sit quietly through the performance without disturbing others around them. No babes in arms will be admitted.
