Synopsis: In 1974 William Christensen shocked and excited audiences by presenting the Utah premiere of Carmina Burana, and it quickly grew into one of Ballet West’s most popular ballets. Now Sklute brings you a brand new version of this powerful dance theater work. This world premiere, created by resident choreographer Nicolo Fonte, will surge with transformative power and drama when an immense chorus joins the dancers on-stage singing Carl Orff’s unforgettable score. The artistic craft and genius of George Balanchine, performed to Tchaikovsky’s lush and moving Serenade for Strings.
What is “Warm Ups”?
Warm Ups is a fun and informative pre-curtain discussion with members of our artistic staff where participants get the inside scoop on the performance and the chance to ask any ballet questions they might have. Warm Ups is free to all ticket holders and will add to your enjoyment and understanding of the performance. Warm Ups are held one hour before each production (except for The Nutcracker National Choreographic Festival) and is given by a member of the Artistic Staff. Warm Ups lasts about 30 minutes.
Run time: approximately 2 hours with 20 minute intermission (subject to change)
Recommended for ages 8 and up. No babes in arms. All patrons must have a ticket regardless of age. When availability allows, Student and Senior tickets can be purchased the day of the performance for $15.
Late seating will take place through the Overture and will then resume at intermission.
