The month of July is full of fireworks, barbecues, and gatherings with family and friends. As you make plans with those family and friends, check out some of the great events happening at Salt Lake Arts & Culture venues. Find an event that will appeal to each person in your posse.

July 3 – George Washington: Ordained of God – Abravanel Hall
Celebrate the 4th of July with a choral masterwork about one of America’s founding fathers. The show recounts the true history of George Washington’s difficulties and miracles wrought during the American War for Independence which led to the birth of our nation.

July 12-27 – Cinderella – Regent Street Black Box
This new version of the beloved fairy tale is the perfect play for families. As Cinderella tries to outmaneuver her wicked stepmother, she must decide if her story ends as a fairy tale or as a revenge tragedy. Thrilling, heartwarming, and hilarious, this new version is not to be missed! Recommended for children who can focus on a story for about 80 minutes – about 6 & up. There are a few potentially frightening moments.

July 12-14 – Damn These Heels – The Rose
Utah Film Center’s 16th annual Damn These Heels is a festival that explores LGBTQ culture, ideas, struggles, and triumphs through independent, documentary, and foreign films from around the world. The longest running LGBTQ Film Festival in the Mountain West and only one in Utah, Damn These Heels has presented more than 230 thought-provoking and entertaining films over the years.

July 18 – Pod Tours America – Eccles Theater
Have you listened to “Pod Save America”? Co-hosted by Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor, the podcast has been downloaded more than 370M times, and was dubbed “the voice in blue America’s head” by New York Times Magazine. Pod Save America is hitting the road again to have live, no-nonsense conversations about politics, the press, and the nightmare that is the Trump presidency.

July 19 – Jay Owenhouse – The Rose
Jay Owenhouse, a legendary escape artist and one of the most awarded illusionists in history, returns to Salt Lake City by popular demand for one night only in “Dare to Believe!”, an illusion spectacular. The show has been voted by audiences and critics alike “One of the Top 10 Live Shows in America”. Jay welcomes you into his mysterious world of wonder and the impossible. You will experience a night of grand illusions with the most amazing magic in the world, Bengal tigers up close, dangerous escapes, and inspiring storytelling. Seeing Owenhouse live is an evening that will leave you breathless with a feeling of childhood wonder that “anything is possible!”.

July 20 – Daniel Tosh – Eccles Theater
Best known from the Comedy Central show Tosh.0, Daniel Tosh will perform an evening of standup comedy. This show is suggested for mature audiences.

July 27 – The NerdFest – The Rose
